My wig is cute y’all! After suffering from an AWFULLLL adverse reaction from a bad batch of perm in December, I am thankful that during my recovery period I was still able to pull it together and look decent ala fake hair. Yup, I don’t wear wigs, weaves, extensions much nowadays (not to say I won’t) but this cute little number was my “go to” while my scalp was healing from 2nd degree burns and while I was scared to death to even put a comb in my hair. Talk about scary! My head felt like it was on FIRE for 5 days straight. I thought it was a typical scalp irritation situation that most experience with a perm at one time or another, but this was on another level.
One day, I spoke to a friend who said “get to the hospital now” because infection may be setting in after all these days of intense pain. I did just that. I was given a shampoo that took 2 days to stop the burning sensation and a steroid ointment. Talk about nervous!!!!!!!!! I didn’t know if I would wake up with hair all on the pillow or what, totally traumatized. Growing up in a salon with my mom, a stylist for over 30years and my sister over 20 years, honeyyyyy believe I had experts on speed dial; by the way they were so unphased and both felt I would be okay. As weeks passed, the many gross sores that were tangled in my hair healed and hair eventually started to grow back in those areas where some strands were lost.
Here we are in late February and lucky for me, my hair didn’t all fall to the ground but I do notice my edges are thinner than they were and like most Black women, they were already my thinnest area, so indeed I’m pissed on a weekly basis that this happened to me and have been using Jamaican Castor Oil, Organic Coconut Oil and the (((BEST))) stuff on the planet for hair breakage ladies Aphogee Hair Treatments. I typically wear short hair styles and will succumb to my annual ritual of cutting my hair when the weather breaks late Spring……meanwhile I’ll just:
For some reason I wanted pancakes at 2:00pm on a Sunday afternoon. Backtrack, not just “any” pancakes but ones from iHop….OM freakin’ G…those are major.
Mind you, while getting dressed today, like every day, I’m struggling to find clothes that fit since I gained a few extra pounds the past year and refuse to buy larger size clothes. No ma’am!
I have purposely let myself suffer looking at my cute size 8/9 pieces hanging in my closet hoping deep in my soul that they haven’t gotten to the end of their road.
Yes, me being at iHop is totally out of order and I know flat out that I’m dead wrong.
Note to self: Start dieting tomorrrow
Of all days, I’m in the house on a Saturday with a miserable cold eating soup. Today, I had planned on hanging out around town taking pics with my new Canon Rebel T4i Digital SLR Camera…..OMG it’s the bomb!!! I have been researching cameras for over a month and at the last minute decided to check Craigslist. Lucky me, I found a local guy selling one for $600 firm, but I managed to get it for $550.
Two days later, after a 30 minute inspection meeting with the guy at a McDonald’s, I was convinced it was a good buy. Not only was I getting the camera but also an additional macro lens along with a 3yr. store warranty that the seller purchased (which I called on the spot to verify).
I left with the camera feeling quite satisfied and just to be sure, I popped into a highly reputable pro photography store in Baltimore on Falls Rd., Service Photo and got a thorough “look over” and was told it was in excellent condition.
Told you I LUCKed up 🙂
Here is my new toy….
Pics I took of my makeup……..
Little Mr. Injured sleeping across the back seat with a cast on his leg after school…..
Random pic showing off my skills…lol
My friends know I live for Saturday FUN. I swear it’s the Holy Grail of days to me. If the weather is on point, I’m in heaven because I can hang out in the sunshine “doing me.”
Today my bestie Kim was in a crab eating mood so we chatted it up pier side at Bo Brooks, a waterfront restaurant. It’s my South Beach Miami in Baltimore chill spot over looking the Inner Harbor.
Sipping on a key lime martini with graham cracker on the rim was perfect for me while eating hot steamed crabs. I am big on customer service and truly appreciate it when received. The District Manager Chris Cox went out of his way to fix an issue I had even periodically checking on our table.

Hello, my name is Francine and I am an Apple product junkie. Now that I got that out of my system, I feel so much better. Sitting here at this very moment, I am seriously technologically challenged. I mean it’s pretty sad around here! I’m in need of a new cell phone, laptop and digital / hd video camera. Last week, I spent a dizzying 2 hours in Best Buy with an awesome sales guy, Joe who patiently assisted me despite asking him 500 questions. Let me tell you, that store is fun to walk around touching and wondering what half the stuff on the shelves do, are for or how to even connect them, but it’s also intimidating at the same time.
As I’m window shopping, I’m thinking people must really have some loot in Baltimore. A $13,000.00 refrigerator and a $9,000.00 stove was shocking to see in Best Buy to say the least. I immediately called my friend Jerrell in Atlanta, “Do you knowwwww they have a $13,000.00 fridge and $9,000.00 stove in Best Buy?”
I rehab / rent houses for a living and don’t even think that I would splurge or possibly even suggest that for a client. It’s not that much cooking in the world needed to be done….I’m just saying. Feeling a little more adventurous, I went down an isle, turned the corner and I was scared of the shiny round Sony ball thingie on display that turned out to only be a bluetooth speaker, I think. I had no idea there was so much I needed to automate my life. It’s not a game out here, they even take the simple basic alarm clock to another level that beams the time onto the ceiling so all you have to do is look up after rolling over pissed that it’s 6:00 am.
At lightning speed, technology has become so advanced and products are rolled out left and right from manufacturers that if you don’t catch up you will be totally in the dark. I surely don’t want t be left behind the 8-ball since every part of our daily lives will include gadgets and gizmos like never before. I don’t want to be like my sister Denise who just got her first smart phone, bless her heart, and have no idea after a month how to truly use it. Mind you she has an iPhone…gasp….I mean like the most advanced thing on the planet and she calls ME from New York City to tell her where the Mega Bus stop is because she is at Penn Station and it departs in about 30 minutes and missing it would ruin her life. What!…. you have an iPhone….google it! After I calmed down, I walked her through pulling up Safari to get online, you will see two boxes at the top, the right is google blah, blah, blah. After my 3 minute tutorial, totally frustrated she yells, “Never mind, I’m walking to the corner and will ask somebody!” then she hung up on me. Wow.
Anyway, this month, I’m launching an ecommerce website and MUST have the tools that will allow me to get things done more efficiently. I’m so neurotic in business that I hate relying on folks so I like to have full control by having my own stuff. First purchase, a new phone. It brings me great sadness that after many years of blissful memories, I’m finally jumping off the Team iPhone ship and will give another brand a shot. I’m feeling somewhat melancholy, but not really though since last night I dug out 3 broken iphones & ipods from my junk drawer either not working, with cracked screens or both.
I decided to buy the Galaxy S4 Active cell phone, an Apple Mac Book Pro laptop and the Canon Rebel T3i Digital SLR camera that also shoots HD video. I’m super excited just thinking about having my new toys to play with. It’s gonna be pricey but you gotta spend money to make money.
