How To Contour Your Makeup Celebrity Style

Makeup Contouring

I LovvvVVvvE make up and when it comes to contouring your face, this illustration is totally on point. The idea is to sculpt with various shades of foundation, blush, concealers, bronzers, illuminators and/ or  highlighters so that when light hits your face, it appears as if your cheekbones are higher, eyes brighter, your nose somewhat chiseled and your complexion glowing.

Contouring Guide

OK, I’m digging in my make up bag (which truly needs to be organized) below are all of the products I currently have and use alllllllll the time:

MAC Match Master Foundation SPF 15 in 7.5 (about to stop using this one, it dries my face out really bad)

MAC Foundation

– Cover Girl Clean Foundation in Tawny….I mix with other color foundations to get a perfect match

Cover Girl

–  NYX Liquid Illuminator in Gleam….I put this on my  cheek bone, it creates that J-Lo dewey shimmery look

NYX

–  Ben Nye Luxury Loose Powder in Banana….I found it locally at a costume shop, Celebs go crazy over it

Ben Nye Banana Luxury Powder

–  MAC Powder Blush in Blunt Matte

Mac Blunt

–  Nicka K New York Bronzer in Bronze Chocolate….LUV IT, gives you the South Beach tanned and golden look

Nicka K Bronzer

–  Kiss New York  Ultra Cover Stick Foundation in Beige….I only put under and on my eyelid as a concealer

–  MAC Studio Finish Concealer in NC45….the BEST… if I had to choose My #1 All Time Fave this would be it, hands down!

MAC Concealer

–  MAC Bronzing Powder in Bronze

I usually stick to what I like and have all used these products for years. I pick and choose which foundation, concealer, and powder to put on depending upon look I’m going for……Ladies, it’s Trial & Error, period! Just because a make up brand is expensive doesn’t mean it’s the best, some of my favorite foundations, lipsticks, shadows, glosses and liners are El Cheapos. If you are not sure about color matching products for your skin (a major headache) that’s okay, just buy make up from drugstores like CVS, Rite Aid, & Walgreens who usually have a return policy with the original receipt.

OMG $69 Chemical Peel On Groupon

image

I am always trying something! I love being pampered, so for years I have indulged myself in Spa treatments such as massages, facials, body polishes, wraps, scrubs, vichy showers, and the usual mani / pedi. Yes ma’am I have been dipped, dyed and fried!

(Sidebar….speaking of vichy showers, Turf Valley Resort, in Maryland has the most AMaZiNg warm Milk & Honey Scrub that is to die for.)

Yesterday, like most days, I’m browsing the internet and ran across a promotion on Groupon for a $69 chemical peel. “Whattttt $69 BUCKS, now that’s a bargain!” I thought. Although I’ve never gotten one, I do know peels run between $125-$300 per session and usually 3 or more are recommended spread out over a few months for maximum results.

Here is the $69 Groupon deal…..

This product is medical grade acid that exfoliates the top layers of skin causing your face to peel leaving a new fresh smooth layer within days. The chemicals will produce brighter, younger looking skin with a better texture. Luckily, I don’t have bad skin or get acne, but battle dry dullness so I simply want the glowing, dewey, radiant look to my face. (Yes, I do know drinking more water is a start, but I’m extra.)

Indeed I was excited, so when I arrived an hour later 🙂  I was greeted by a bubbly, well dressed woman Erica who escorted me to my esthetician, Missy, who also had an adorable personality. The process took about 25 minutes where my face was first cleansed then wiped down with an alcohol smelling solution followed by the peeling agent that burns for about 15 minutes. A fan was turned on to assist with cooling me off. The liquid stung quite a bit but wasn’t totally unbearable. After the procedure, I was consulted on my skin care regimen and then offered top of the line skin care products to purchase such as Obagi.

I left the office with the clear masque still on and was instructed to stay out of the sun, rinse my face in 4 hours and not use a cleanser until the next morning.

My peel was yesterday at 4pm, it’s now 12:45pm the next day and I am still feeling a tingling and itching sensation after following instructions and cleansing my face earlier today. I was told I may begin peeling between day 1-3 and NOT to pull any skin but to just let it fall off unassisted. I have not started peeling or flaking and will post updated pics of my before and after results.

FYI, I got the  the Vitalize by Skin Medica, who also make the Rejuvenize (stronger more expensive peel)  and the Illuminize Peels (cheaper beginner and less harsh on the skin). I would highly recommend the services of Dr. Birely, Artistry in Plastic Surgery who also does liposuction and breast enhancements. The office space is extremely attractive and the staff are darlings. Erica and Missy are my new BFF’s…..lol.

Breakfast Food For Lunch

For some reason I wanted pancakes at 2:00pm on a Sunday afternoon. Backtrack, not just “any” pancakes but ones from iHop….OM freakin’ G…those are major.

Mind you, while getting dressed today, like every day, I’m struggling to find clothes that fit since I gained a few extra pounds the past year and refuse to buy larger size clothes. No ma’am!

I have purposely let myself suffer looking at my cute size 8/9 pieces hanging in my closet hoping deep in my soul that they haven’t gotten to the end of their road.

Yes, me being at iHop is totally out of order and I know flat out that I’m dead wrong.
