OMG $69 Chemical Peel On Groupon

image

I am always trying something! I love being pampered, so for years I have indulged myself in Spa treatments such as massages, facials, body polishes, wraps, scrubs, vichy showers, and the usual mani / pedi. Yes ma’am I have been dipped, dyed and fried!

(Sidebar….speaking of vichy showers, Turf Valley Resort, in Maryland has the most AMaZiNg warm Milk & Honey Scrub that is to die for.)

Yesterday, like most days, I’m browsing the internet and ran across a promotion on Groupon for a $69 chemical peel. “Whattttt $69 BUCKS, now that’s a bargain!” I thought. Although I’ve never gotten one, I do know peels run between $125-$300 per session and usually 3 or more are recommended spread out over a few months for maximum results.

Here is the $69 Groupon deal…..

This product is medical grade acid that exfoliates the top layers of skin causing your face to peel leaving a new fresh smooth layer within days. The chemicals will produce brighter, younger looking skin with a better texture. Luckily, I don’t have bad skin or get acne, but battle dry dullness so I simply want the glowing, dewey, radiant look to my face. (Yes, I do know drinking more water is a start, but I’m extra.)

Indeed I was excited, so when I arrived an hour later 🙂  I was greeted by a bubbly, well dressed woman Erica who escorted me to my esthetician, Missy, who also had an adorable personality. The process took about 25 minutes where my face was first cleansed then wiped down with an alcohol smelling solution followed by the peeling agent that burns for about 15 minutes. A fan was turned on to assist with cooling me off. The liquid stung quite a bit but wasn’t totally unbearable. After the procedure, I was consulted on my skin care regimen and then offered top of the line skin care products to purchase such as Obagi.

I left the office with the clear masque still on and was instructed to stay out of the sun, rinse my face in 4 hours and not use a cleanser until the next morning.

My peel was yesterday at 4pm, it’s now 12:45pm the next day and I am still feeling a tingling and itching sensation after following instructions and cleansing my face earlier today. I was told I may begin peeling between day 1-3 and NOT to pull any skin but to just let it fall off unassisted. I have not started peeling or flaking and will post updated pics of my before and after results.

FYI, I got the  the Vitalize by Skin Medica, who also make the Rejuvenize (stronger more expensive peel)  and the Illuminize Peels (cheaper beginner and less harsh on the skin). I would highly recommend the services of Dr. Birely, Artistry in Plastic Surgery who also does liposuction and breast enhancements. The office space is extremely attractive and the staff are darlings. Erica and Missy are my new BFF’s…..lol.
